Fish Detection using Side-Looking Sonars
Challenges of Side-Looking Geometry:
Clutter from ocean surface and seabed backscattering, also ship wakes.
Acoustic Distortions due to surface and seabed reflections and volume refraction (multi-paths and shadow zones).
Fish Target Strength dependent on orientation (i.e. head, tail, or side).
Very difficult to extract fish depth information
